Extensive research shows that CBD has been found to have anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-anxiety, and anti-inflammatory properties. That is just a small window of the wide variety of benefits arising from CBD. This makes CBD a potential medicine for the treatment of a plethora of chronic illnesses as well as the ideal dietary supplement for daily health and wellness maintenance.
What is CBD?
CBD or Cannabidiol is a chemical compound that comes from specific strains of the cannabis plant. CBD is only one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis. CBD is most commonly derived from hemp strains of cannabis.
Where does our CBD come from?
Our CBD products are CO2 extracted and separated from Hemp, a specific species of cannabis. Although the CBD compound can be found in both marijuana and hemp, most legal CBD products are extracts from hemp. At C.U.R.E., our products are extracted from 100% Colorado grown hemp, not marijuana. Though most CBD products on the market contain small amounts of THC, ours contain none.
How Does CBD Work?
How CBD Reacts In The Body
Believe it or not, the human body naturally creates its own type of cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids. The body actually has an entire biological network called the Endocannabinoid System. This system helps aid and support the body’s regulatory system, an integral complex that works as a mechanism to sense and respond to potential adverse changes within the body. This central system is responsible for keeping our body in a state of balance or homeostasis. It regulates appetite, mood, memory, pain sensation, inflammation, the immune system, and so much more.
The type of cannabinoids that are found in nature and consumed are called phytocannabinoids. The most prominent phytocannabinoid impacting health is CBD. Just like endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids bind to the body’s central and peripheral nervous systems and aid the regulatory system. However, phytocannabinoids have a much more significant impact on the human body over endocannabinoids. In a sense, CBD helps jump-start the regulatory system, plus it carries a large bandwidth of powerful health benefits.
Does CBD Get You High?
Here at C.U.R.E., it is one of our priorities to clear up the confusion on this subject. Unfortunately, CBD often gets put into the same category as marijuana. Although CBD can be derived from the marijuana species, our product is not, as our strategic partners’ farms in Colorado are only comprised of the Hemp plant.
The psychoactive compound that is correlated to the term “high” or “stoned” is THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol. THC is an intoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis and is illegal unless purchased with a medical card in participating states. Naturally, hemp still contains small traces of THC, and after cultivation and manufacturing, many hemp-derived CBD products are still sold on the market with small amounts of THC in them. As long as the THC level in these products are below 0.3%, the product is legal.
At C.U.R.E. we take this a step further and proudly avoid the entire THC scenario altogether by only providing products that are absolutely THC free. We are pleased to prove this by providing every batch with third-party testing documents and posting them on our site.
The Truth About Hemp
The Cannabis family has a largely disputed number of strains or breeds, but the most infamous and well-known breed is marijuana. Unfortunately, this is the sole reason for people’s confusion when they hear the terms hemp and cannabis. The real truth about hemp is that it has been widely used by mankind for centuries. It was not only cultivated for medicinal purposes but also for food, ink, clothing, paper, rope, insulation, and so much more. Traces of use date back as far as 10,000 years—in China and Taiwan, evidence suggests that hemp played an important role in food and pottery making. In the mid 1500’s King Henry VIII fined and jailed farmers if they didn’t grow hemp as it was the main source for ropes, sails and other supplies for the English Navy ships. The Declaration of Independence was drafted upon hemp paper during the time when American farmers were required by law to grow hemp. Excerpt from the
United States Department of Health and Human Services
“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism (anesthetics). This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuro-protectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neuro-degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.
Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.”
